After the game-winning Hail Mary, Jayden Daniels, quarterback for the Washington Commanders, and Noah Brown, wide receiver, grew closer. Daniels’ Hail Mary had Commanders fans in tears, and the Washington crowd got loud. Meanwhile, the two and the rest of the team celebrated their 6-2 start. Following the game, Brown spoke with NFL.com and revealed a surprising fact about his quarterback.
“Man, we’re blessed to have (No.) 5 leading this team,” Brown said of Daniel. “The things he can do are incredible, including that last play, where he kept his cool and fought like hell to get the ball off, and threw a hell of a ball.
“I wouldn’t want to play with any other quarterback, I’m glad to have him.”
Daniels was the second overall choice in the 2024 NFL Draft. He had just won the Heisman Trophy for LSU football after showing great promise at Arizona State only two seasons before. However, many analysts and coaches believed he should have been the consensus top pick over Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.
Interestingly, the two faced off on Sunday in front of the entire world. Daniels finished 21-38 for 326 passing yards, 52 rushing yards, and a touchdown echoed across the NFL. Williams, on the other hand, completed 10 of 24 passes for 131 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
Jayden Daniels continues to create history for the Commanders.
The Commanders quarterback has exceeded his team’s expectations. Daniels has the best completion percentage in his first four games since Tom Brady in 2007. Not to add, Daniels made NFL history in the first half against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. He became the first quarterback to amass 1,000+ passing yards and 250+ rushing yards. His dynamism at the position enables him to dominate both the ground and air attack.
After losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1, Daniels hasn’t looked back. Since then, he’s scored seven passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, and two interceptions. He held his own against the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, passing for 269 yards and two touchdowns. Daniels has the trust of his head coach, teammates, the organization, and the entire community.
Currently, the Commanders are 6-2 and lead the NFC East. They will next face the New York Giants for the second time this season. Washington won their prior meeting 21-18. With more games under his belt, Daniels might expose an injury-plagued Giants club and secure another division victory for his team.
