Former New York Knicks head coach and ESPN commentator Jeff Van Gundy has found a new job in the NBA.
Will Van Gundy’s addition hurt the Knicks’ chances against the Celtics?
According to Brian Robb of masslive.com, Van Gundy will serve as a ‘Senior Consultant’ with the Boston Celtics, the latest addition in a succession of transactions.
“Van Gundy is the latest addition to Boston’s staff which included a number of notable assistant hires this offseason such as Sam Cassell and Charles Lee,” Robb said in a statement.
Van Gundy, 61, will be in charge of basketball operations for the famous franchise.
For the entirety of the league’s existence, the Celtics have been a first-rate organization. They’ve been winning in recent years, reaching the NBA Finals in 2022 and the Eastern Conference Finals in 2018 and 2020.
Van Gundy will allegedly split his time between the Celtics and their G League club after being ingratiated into the organization following their big off-season acquisition of All-Star Jrue Holiday.
