The Detroit Lions are preparing for their Week 11 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. They have an 8-1 record so far this season and are one of the finest football teams.
Coming into the season, the Lions were surrounded with Super Bowl talk. So far this year, they have not disappointed. They have totally lived up to the anticipation and appear to be a potential championship team.
Detroit is led by Dan Campbell and plays with a lot of attitude. They play hard and play for one another. Despite losing superstar pass-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, the team has not missed a beat.
Having said that, they will need to overcome another setback this week against the Jaguars.
Detroit Lions Get Brutal Injury Update Ahead Of Week 11
According to the Lions on X, standout tight end Sam LaPorta will miss this week’s game against Jacksonville due to a shoulder injury.
The loss of LaPorta will be a significant blow to the Detroit Lions offence.
LaPorta has appeared in nine games thus far during the 2024 NFL season. He finished with 25 catches for 366 yards and three scores.
Clearly, those numbers are down from his first year. He was a breakout star in 2023, catching 86 passes for 889 yards and ten touchdowns. Despite his reduced numbers, he remains a significant impact player.
Jared Goff will need to shift the football to other targets. LaPorta has become one of his favourite security blankets since joining the NFL last year.
Hopefully, the Detroit Lions will be able to get their brilliant 23-year-old tight end back on the field by Week 12. Giving him a week to relax and get healed is sad, but it will allow him to focus on returning in Week 12.
