The Las Vegas Raiders are now on a six-game losing streak, and their schedule shows no signs of easing. The team has tried a variety of strategies to generate a spark, such as changing quarterbacks several times or altering the offensive staff. However, no viable approach has helped the team turn things around.
While head coach Antonio Pierce may be coaching for his job in the final stretch, winning games will only hinder the team’s prospects of landing a high draft choice. Regardless, the head coach stated last week, prior to the team’s Week 11 loss to the Miami Dolphins, that quarterback Gardner Minshew is their greatest chance of winning.
However, it is quite evident that Minshew is not doing as well as the Raiders had intended. Despite his problems, Pierce made it clear this week that they wanted to give him a fair chance going forward, announcing on Monday that he’d start against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
According to ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez, Aidan O’Connell will not be eligible for release off IR until next week. Minshew has struggled to protect the ball this season, throwing for over 1,700 yards with eight touchdowns and nine interceptions while registering a 39.1 QBR.
