It’s flip season for college football recruiting, and although this could be beneficial to the Tennessee Volunteers and head coach Josh Heupel, there are some serious concerns in Knoxville right now. That’s because Ohio State received a surprise visit from 5-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. this weekend.
Sanders has been committed to the Volunteers for some time, but Ohio State is making a late push to secure his signature on December 4, when the Early Signing Period opens. As things stand, it appears that he is torn about what to do. On3’s Steve Wiltfong provided an update, and a source informed him that things may be moving in Ryan Day’s favour. This would be a significant blow to Heupel’s 2025 class.
Tennessee Vols may wind up losing 5-star OT. commit David Sanders Jr. joins Ohio State.
“According to several people familiar with the recruitment, this visit began to gain traction on Wednesday.” He’s on campus at Ohio State this weekend. He might stay until Monday. There will be a lot of debate and opportunities for Ohio State to make a play on Tennessee.”
The Buckeyes continue to look like one of the greatest teams in the country, and having Sanders in town for the College GameThe victory over Indiana was an important one for Day and his crew. Sanders is considered as the best offensive tackle in the country, and for good reason: he’s an absolute beast.
Tennessee fans everywhere are enthusiastic about what he’ll be able to accomplish at the next level, but it’s unclear if he’ll be heading to Knoxville or not. A week ago, it seemed certain that he would play for the Vols, but the Buckeyes have given him a lot to think about. This is bad news for Heupel, who will now have to fight to keep his prized commit for 2025 on board.
