Derion Kendrick, the Los Angeles Rams’ starting cornerback, was arrested early Monday morning on a felony allegation of carrying a concealed firearm.
According to Los Angeles County prison inmate records, Kendrick was arrested following a traffic stop in Hollywood, many hours after the Rams defeated Arizona 26-9 at SoFi Stadium. Georgia’s second-year pro played 68 snaps against the Cardinals and had two tackles.
According to TMZ, authorities discovered a pistol and marijuana in Kendrick’s car. Rams coach Sean McVay stated on Monday that the team and the NFL were both aware of Kendrick’s arrest.
Kendrick was arrested at 2:14 a.m. and had not been released by mid-afternoon. McVay refused to reveal whether Kendrick was still in custody.
“It’s all about gathering more information,” added McVay. “Until I have all of the information, it’s hard for me to answer anything further with regards to his status, any of those types of things.”
Kendrick has started every game for the Los Angeles Rams this season, assuming a key defensive role after the Rams parted ways with Jalen Ramsey and the majority of their starting secondary over the offseason.
Kendrick, a sixth-round pick in 2022, began his undergraduate career at Clemson. He won national titles with the Tigers and the Bulldogs.
If Kendrick is out for an extended period of time, youngster Tre Tomlinson or veteran Duke Shelley will likely take his place as the Rams’ starting quarterback, according to McVay.
