DEAL CONFIRMED AND SEALED: Phillies Have Officially Completed a Blockbuster Trade With Houston Astro For Alec Bohm Replacement

The Philadelphia Phillies could look very different in 2025, especially at third base.

The Phillies are considering replacing Alec Bohm.
The Phillies are actively shopping All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm and may have already decided on his replacement. According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, if Philadelphia is successful in dealing Bohm, they will actively seek former Houston Astros All-Star 3B Alex Bregman, as follows (h/t Bleacher Report’s Timothy Rapp):

Phillies-Cardinals Blockbuster Trade Proposal Sends Philly Alec Bohm Replacement
“If the Phillies trade Bohm, they are expected to make a strong play for Alex Bregman, whose talent and personality would fit in perfectly with the team, or perhaps sign Willy Adames and move him over to third base,” says Nightengale.

Phillies: Bregman was great defensively and efficient at the plate in 2024.
Bregman has been linked to the Phillies all season. He’s regarded as a bat who may propel their lineup to new heights next season. In 2024, the New Mexico native had 4.1 WAR, mainly in part to his 26 home runs and 79 runs scored. He was also effective at the plate, with a.260/.315/.453 batting line.

Bregman may be the Phillies’ missing championship piece.

Phillies nearly set on potential Alec Bohm replacement

Bregman is largely recognized as one of the best third basemen in the major leagues. The reigning Gold Glove Award winner excels both defensively and offensively. Furthermore, the two-time World Series champion might provide championship experience to the Phillies’ team culture.

It remains to be seen whether Philadelphia will be able to trade Bohm this offseason. Nonetheless, if that is the case, Bregman checks all of the right boxes and appears to be an ideal seasoned complement to Bryce Harper and company in 2025 and beyond.
