HUGE DECISION: Bears Make Playcalling Decision After Naming Interim HC

Matt Eberflus is no longer the head coach of the Chicago Bears, and Thomas Brown has stepped in as an interim replacement, according to several reports.
According to a source, Brown will continue to serve as the Bears’ offensive play-caller while transitioning to his new post. This consistency is anticipated to assist Caleb Williams, who has shown significant progress since Brown took over play-calling duties three weeks ago.

With a 4-8 record this season, the Bears have concentrated on maximizing Caleb Williams’ development. The departure of Matt Eberflus, a defensive play-caller with a 14-32 career record, has had no impact on Williams’ development.

Brown, 38, joined the Bears in the spring as the passing game coach but was promoted to offensive coordinator earlier this month after Shane Waldron was fired. In less than three weeks, Brown has advanced from passing game coordinator to interim head coach.

The Bears are better since Thomas Brown handled the offence.
Since taking over as offensive coordinator following Waldron’s resignation, Brown has demonstrated a more fierce and passionate coaching style than Matt Eberflus. While Brown has no prior head coaching experience, his active style was evident in his work with Caleb Williams. He now leads the entire team and seeks to foster the same high-energy attitude throughout.

The Bears’ quarterback has thrived under Brown. Williams has a 99.2 passer rating over the last three games after completing 75 of 117 passes for 827 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions. This is a big improvement from his previous effort, when he had an 81.0 passer rating with nine touchdowns and five interceptions.

Williams’ 99.2 passing rating came against tough NFC North opponents, indicating tremendous development. However, following the Bears’ three agonizing losses to NFC North opponents, when rallies fell short in each game, Brown knows exactly what he has to work on with Williams and the entire squad.

Despite certain obstacles, the passing offence has proven to be a significant strength. Despite Williams being sacked five more times, taking his total to an NFL-high 49, the offence improved in the second half against the Detroit Lions, completing three touchdown passes.

Williams also broke Kyler Murray’s NFL rookie record of 211 consecutive passes without an interception with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Keenan Allen in the third quarter. His run is presently at 232 consecutive passes without an interception.

Over the last two weeks, Williams has thrown five touchdown passes, pushing his season total to 14, a new Bears rookie record.

Bears’ Key Points
The run defence is a significant source of concern. Detroit produced 144 of its 197 rushing yards in the first half, establishing a significant advantage. The Bears have failed to stop the run all season, and the loss of defensive tackle Andrew Billings, who was placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle in Week 8, has only made matters worse.

The Bears are 30th in the NFL in yards allowed per run entering this weekend’s games.
