IT’S NOW OFFICIAL: Alabama Lands Christmas Eve Commitment From Highly Rated Elite 4-star In-State CB

Zyan Gibson, a 4-star cornerback, committed to Alabama for its 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday, giving the school an early Christmas present.

After losing defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, their only 2026 class commitment, earlier this month, Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide are especially happy with this commitment. Gibson is a major in-state product from Gadsden, just like Cleveland, who is from Birmingham.

With Alabama balloons floating to the ceiling, Gibson made his decision public on social media on Christmas Eve. As friends and family clapped enthusiastically, he threw on an Alabama baseball hat and grinned broadly.

Despite receiving offers from more than fifteen Division 1 schools, Gibson decided to attend Alabama instead of Miami, Tennessee, or Auburn. According to the 247Sports Composite, the cornerback is the seventh-ranked player in the state of Alabama and the seventh-ranked cornerback nationally.

In high school, Gibson played both wide receiver and cornerback, demonstrating his versatility. In just seven games as a sophomore in high school in 2023, the 5-foot-11, 177-pound player recorded 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery. Gibson, a wideout, caught four passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns in eight games this season.
