BREAKING: SD Padres GM A.J Preller Shocking Respond To Giants Blockbuster Trade For Padres $108 Million Ace

The San Francisco Giants were considered the front-runners in the Corbin Burnes sweepstakes during the past few weeks, but Burnes finally chose to join the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants must now go to a different ace to add to their rotation. Dylan Cease, the star of the San Diego Padres, is among the best choices.

After missing out on Burnes, Christopher Kline of FanSided recently forecast that the Giants will try to sign Cease to a blockbuster contract. According to Spotrac, Cease is expected to agree to a $108 million deal next winter. “Not dissimilar to the Corbin Burnes situation last winter, the San Diego Padres appear willing – even eager – to trade Dylan Cease ahead of his final season,” Kline stated. “The Padres are no doubt hesitant to deal Cease within their own division, but if the Giants can put together a compelling return package, it would be negligent not to listen.”Even if extending Cease involves a free agency bidding war, San Francisco’s dedicated financial strategy should give them some confidence in their capacity to do so in the long run.

Although I’m not sure how likely it is, cease would be a significant addition. It’s unclear if the Padres would be open to trading him to a division competitor, but they are probably eager to sell him before he leaves in free agency. The Giants might have an advantage over the Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks if Cease were added. But until they catch up to the Dodgers, all of these teams still have a ways to go.
