FANS COULD BE HAPPY: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta identifies the signing he’d prefer over Ivan Toney

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to have chosen Wolves winger Pedro Neto as his primary January transfer target in order to relieve pressure on Bukayo Saka.

Although the Gunners are interested in Brentford striker Ivan Toney ahead of the January transfer window, it is thought that there may be limited funds available at the Emirates Stadium this winter, so if Arteta had to choose between Toney and Neto, he would likely choose Neto, according to Football Transfers.

The Portugal international has been in excellent form for Wolves recently, and he appears to be a viable choice to provide Arteta with an alternative to Saka, who has recently struggled with injury difficulties after playing a lot of first-team games during one of the club’s most successful seasons.

Toney would undoubtedly be a handy alternative given Arsenal arguably lacks a clinical goal-scorer in their team, with Gabriel Jesus not appearing like someone capable of hitting 20-25 goals every season, and Eddie Nketiah not looking like the most compelling backup option.

If feasible, AFC fans would want to have both Neto and Toney, but after spending large money on the likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz over the summer, it may be difficult to find cash for even more high-profile signings.

Arteta’s team has started the season strongly, winning a critical 1-0 match against Manchester City shortly before the international break.
