After a stellar season that culminated in the team’s defeat to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff semifinals, Penn State defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton is intending to rejoin the Nittany Lions. As a junior this season, Dennis-Sutton (6-foot-5, 266 pounds) recorded a career-high 42 tackles (13 for loss) and 8.5 sacks, earning him a spot on the conference coaches’ third-team All-Big Ten roster. In addition to an interception, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, the Millsboro, Delaware, native had a talent for finding the ball.
Along a talented defensive front for the Nittany Lions, Dennis-Sutton accomplished this with only a few starts. After a season that broke records, Dennis-Sutton gave head coach James Franklin and company some good news on Monday when he announced his return to State College.
During the Orange Bowl’s 3-point defeat to the Irish, the former five-star exploded. In the 27-24 defeat, Dennis-Sutton recorded six tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception. Dennis-Sutton will not pursue another shot at Penn State because the 2025 NFL draft is a significant decision for the former top-30 prospect (247Sports). He scribbled, “The story continues,” on X. The narrative goes on. image.twitter.com/YKAQSBX4K5 — Dani January 13, 2025, Dennis-Sutton (@thedanidennis) With some players leaving for the NFL or going to the transfer portal, Penn State will look a little different going ahead after breaking a school record with 13 victories in 2024.
Above all, Abdul Carter, an outstanding EDGE, will develop his skills. For a defence that placed eighth in the nation in scoring and ninth in rushing defence, Dennis-Sutton’s return to the team is a welcome development. However, there will be a transitional time as coordinator Tom Allen departs to take the same position at Clemson. On August 30, Penn State will host Nevada to begin the 2025 campaign.
