The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were defeated 20-6 by the Detroit Lions in their most recent game.
The Buccaneers’ record fell to 3-2, but they remain atop the NFC South.
Despite their current position in the division, the Buccaneers expect more from themselves.
Todd Bowles recently commented on the team’s current mood, saying, “We should be pi**** off every week,” according to Around the NFL.
Baker Mayfield expressed a similar sentiment following the Buccaneers’ offensive struggles in their defeat to the Lions.
The Buccaneers scored six points in the game, with Mayfield accounting for 206 yards and one touchdown.
Six points won’t cut it against a team with an offense as explosive as the Lions’.
Both Mayfield and Bowles appear determined to get their teams back on track, expecting to produce more than six points in the future.
Bowles also stated in this conversation that his team needs to “play more disciplined football” if they want to make the playoffs.
The Buccaneers will attempt to channel this excitement in their upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons are currently chasing the Buccaneers in the divisional race.
A win would extend the Buccaneers’ divisional lead, but a loss would put them in a precarious situation.
Mayfield is trying to establish himself on his new squad by doing everything he can to help them succeed.
Beating the Falcons would go a long way toward putting them ahead for the rest of the season.
