Following his official visit to Ann Arbour over the weekend, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons have both predicted that the Michigan Wolverines will land the most desired prospect remaining in the 2025 class: five-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood.
Here is what Wiltfong had to say about both of them making predictions:
On3, Haywood and his team are still communicating with the Maize and Blue program, so the trip appears to have gone well.
Michigan’s head coach, Sherrone Moore, offensive line coach Grant Newsome, and General Manager Sean Magee visited Haywood last week before the weekend’s official start.
Haywood, a former Alabama recruit, did not sign during the Early Signing Period. Michigan was one of the reasons, and when Haywood informed the Crimson Tide that he would not be signing, they also moved on.
Haywood is still in talks with Texas Tech and Florida State, but Michigan has the recruiting lead. With that, On3’s Chad Simmons and I have shifted our forecasts to the Wolverines.
With these two forecasts, Michigan now has four predictions in their favour on On3. As of this writing, there are no projections on 247Sports, however The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich wrote on Monday that “The Wolverines really have impressed Haywood and his family” and that “My confidence has grown and I’m feeling even better than I was heading into this trip.”
Overall, it appears like good news is on the way for Sherrone Moore and his team as they attempt to sign one more five-star recruit in the 2025 class. The class already boasts a five-star offensive lineman, but bringing in another talented people mover — Haywood is 6-foot-5, 285 pounds — to protect quarterback Bryce Underwood would be huge for the Wolverines.
Nothing is official until Haywood makes the announcement himself, but Michigan supporters should be optimistic about this. As always, keep an eye out for updates on this and other recruitments right here on Maize n Brew.
