Another day, another chance for the New York Jets to spoil everyone’s fun.
After this season’s tragedy, everyone seemed to be on the same page about what the Jets’ next move would be. They were going to clean house, start again, and possibly avoid nationally televised games for the next few years. We all gave them the opportunity to sit at the adult table, and they were unable to manage the responsibilities.
However, it appears that the Jets may have learned nothing. How unlike them. According to [deep sigh] New York Yankees announcer and frequently irate radio broadcaster Michael Kay, the Jets want to keep Rodgers. Seriously. Yes, to play quarterback. I was as astonished as you were.
The Jets are reportedly attempting to do the Davante Adams-Aaron Rodgers thing back in 2025.
“For the Jets, the one thing you don’t have to worry about is the head coach’s salary,” he told reporters. “That does not exceed anybody’s pay cap or anything like that. And there is word out there; there have been leaks. Aaron Glenn has expressed a desire to retain Aaron Rodgers, regardless of the compensation package.
On the one hand, this is incredibly funny, and I believe it should happen. As we’ve seen over the last few years, keeping Aaron Rodgers is a great idea that will turn out just as planned. There is no downside to maintaining him as your football team’s starting quarterback.
On the other hand, Aaron Glenn does not deserve this. I’d argue that no one deserves to face the Jets, but Glenn’s first coaching opportunity should be met with more hope than this. Rodgers looked a touch better in the final month of the season, but what exactly are we talking about? He is 41 years old. 41!
Also, if this means Davante Adams does not realize his destiny and returns to Green Bay, I am going to be furious. You don’t spend two months hinting at it on Kay Adams’ show before returning to the *Jets.*
There is nothing for you there, Davante. Don’t let Rodgers’ strange offseason antics deceive you. There’s a reason you claimed Jayden Daniels reminded you of Jordan Love and not Rodgers. In any case, New York is so played out. Green Bay is the next hot spot for 2025.
