Melbourne Storm star fullback Sua Fa’alogo is ready to be locked up by the club, with contract talks starting for a term that may last until the end of 2027.
Fa’alogo is regarded as one of the game’s top emerging prospects, which he has demonstrated in limited opportunities under the spotlight thus far.
After impressing during the Storm’s pre-season trials, particularly against the Sydney Roosters, the teenage fullback earned his NRL debut in Round 27 following the year in the QLD Cup, as Craig Bellamy rested much of his top 17.
Following his two tries on NRL debut, Fa’alogo was picked to Samoa’s squad for the ongoing Pacific Cup, and he held his own against an Australian Kangaroos side in Townsville last weekend.
He has been picked to start again this weekend against New Zealand in Auckland, where he will face another of the game’s greatest, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad.
The performances will provide the teenager with invaluable experience, and the Storm have already exercised a club option in his favor for 2025 to ensure he remains with the Victorian club for at least the next two seasons.

With some clubs struggling for fullbacks and little on the market, Fa’alogo may choose to wait it out and see what his worth is on the open market from November 1 next year, but the Storm will have exclusive negotiating rights with the young gun until November 1 next year, 12 months before his contract expires, if reports of the option being exercised are true.
The fullback has apparently been guaranteed first-team time next year, albeit it will most likely be from the bench in the number 14 jersey.
