The San Diego Padres could be in for a memorable season from outstanding slugger Fernando Tatis Jr. in 2025.
The Padres’ Fernando Tatis Jr. might erupt next season.
Tatis Jr. was recently forecasted by FanGraphs to hit 38 home runs, drive in 101 RBIs, and have an OPS of.837 for the upcoming season. They also predict him finishing with 5.7 WAR (h/t MLB Network).
There’s plenty of reason to believe the 26-year-old can match those figures the next time around. The two-time All-Star has twice posted a WAR rating above five, with 5.5 in 2023 and 6.6 in 2021. As a result, he can realistically expect to achieve 5.7 by 2024.
Tatis Jr. will need a scorching bat to reach 38 home runs, as he previously hit a career-high 42 in 2021 but has not above 25 in the past four seasons. Nonetheless, with a couple of crucial players, such as All-Star Jurickson Profar, no longer in town, more will be expected of him.
A healthy Tatis Jr. can dominate in 2025.
The two-time Silver Slugger Award winner’s availability will most certainly be the deciding factor in whether or not he exceeds 100 RBIs and reaches the forecasted 101. Tatis Jr. has only played more than 100 games in three of his five seasons, with a career-high 97 RBIs for the Padres in 2021.
Thus, with rising expectations for San Diego to outperform National League opponents such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets, among others, Tatis Jr. may rise to the occasion and have his finest season ever.
