San Francisco, CA – February 10, 2025 – The Golden State Warriors have made a major splash ahead of the trade deadline, acquiring Jimmy Butler in a blockbuster deal with the Miami Heat. This move adds another superstar to an already talented roster led by Steph Curry, with the Warriors going all-in for another championship run.
As part of the deal, Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson, Lindy Waters II, and a protected first-round draft pick have been sent to Miami. In addition to the trade, Butler has committed to a two-year, $113 million contract extension, keeping him in the Bay Area through the 2027 season.
With Curry, Butler, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, the Warriors now have a battle-tested core that combines elite shooting, defensive intensity, and playoff experience. Butler’s arrival gives the team a versatile two-way star, capable of creating his own shot while locking down opponents on defense.
“Jimmy is a proven winner who brings toughness and leadership,” said Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr.. “Adding him to this group puts us in a great position to compete at the highest level.”
Butler, a six-time All-Star and former Eastern Conference champion, expressed his excitement about joining Golden State. “I love the way this team plays and competes. I’m here to win, and I know this organization is all about that,” Butler said in a press conference.
For the Heat, this trade marks a new direction. Wiggins and Schroder provide immediate scoring depth, while Anderson and Waters add flexibility to the rotation. The protected first-round pick also gives Miami a valuable asset for future roster moves.
With Butler now in Golden State, the Warriors have sent a clear message: they’re all in on another championship run. As the playoff race heats up, all eyes will be on Butler and Curry’s new dynamic duo in the Bay Area.
