According to the Italian Calciomercato, Manchester United is interested in Tijjani Reijnders. In 2024, the Red Devils want to strengthen their midfield. Meanwhile, AC Milan will ask for about €40 million to release the 25-year-old, who joined the club during the summer transfer window.
Tijjani Reijnders is a Zwolle native who spent the majority of his childhood there. He started his junior career at WVF Zwolle before moving on to PEC Zwolle in 2007. The Dutchman then spent four years with FC Twente before rejoining PEC Zwolle in 2011. However, he rose to popularity after joining AZ Alkmaar five years ago.
The 25-year-old spent six years at AZ Alkmaar, where his stock rose significantly. And AC Milan beat off the competition to sign Reijnders during the summer transfer window. The player has quickly established himself as a regular for the Serie A giants, appearing ten times this season.
The player’s growth has not gone unnoticed, with numerous high-profile clubs in Europe taking notice. Barcelona tried to sign him from AZ Alkmaar during the summer transfer window, but he chose to join AC Milan instead. Manchester United has expressed interest in signing Reijnders.
The Red Devils are looking for a midfielder ahead of the January transfer window. However, they may wait until the conclusion of the season to scour the market for a long-term answer to their midfield problems. Several midfielders, including Javi Guerra, have so surfaced as targets for Manchester United.
However, given his versatility, Reijnders is also a feasible target for Manchester United. The Dutchman is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, but he can also play various midfield positions. Meanwhile, AC Milan will ask for about €40 million to release the player.
Given Reijnders’ potential and performance levels, the asking price is realistic. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain is interested in the 25-year-old. However, it is unknown whether he would depart AC Milan after less than a year at the San Siro.
