Crosby stated last summer that if the Raiders did not hire Antonio Pierce, his time with the organization would be cut short. Pierce was then fired last month.
Following the submission of a trade request by fellow famous AFC pass rusher Myles Garrett, many have speculated that Maxx Crosby may also be on the move.
Raiders Could Benefit From Moving Off Their Star Defender.
The Raiders are rebuilding, and while Vegas has some individual blue chip players scattered throughout the roster, including tight end Brock Bowers, left tackle Kolton Miller, and defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, in addition to Crosby, the roster requires major surgery in almost every department in the form of quality starters.
Crosby is 27 years old and has two years left on his current contract; his worth is as high as it will likely ever be. So it may make sense for Las Vegas to cash in on what may be their best-value draft pick in history.
According to Andy Herman, Bet US has estimated Crosby’s chances of joining the Green Bay Packers, with fascinating odds.
Due to sportsbook margins, the actual probability of Green Bay securing Crosby would be slightly lower, approximately 37%, but the point remains: bookmakers think that the Packers have just over a 1/3 chance of acquiring the four-time Pro Bowler this summer.
Regardless, this is a fairly aggressive price, with a 37% likelihood of being traded in general, but specifically on the Packers.
feels exorbitantly high, especially given the paucity of public pronouncements on the subject from either side.
Why Would Green Bay Covet Maxx Crosby?
However, if this is even close to the proper pricing, it appears to be a major win for Green Bay and Packers supporters.
Aside from numerous Jordan Love wobbles during the season, many of which are thought to be the result of multiple injuries sustained throughout the season, the Packers finish the 2025 season with two obvious needs to address: the pass rush and the receiver room.
Green Bay requires a WR1 and an exceptional pass rusher, both of which are notoriously difficult to find in football.
Although the defensive line has not one, but four former first-round picks: Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt, and Lukas Van Ness.
Gary has performed pretty well, getting his first Pro Bowl nomination this season, but inconsistency has hampered his rise to the league’s finest edge defenders. Van Ness, however, was a raw prospect coming out of Iowa in 2023, and while he possesses all of the physical characteristics to succeed and has demonstrated potential ability and performance at times, he is not yet a high-end starter.
Crosby’s signing would bring in a player at the height of his abilities who was already disruptive on a substandard defence, now joining a stable organization with plenty of young talent eager to learn from him.
Former teammate Keisean Nixon has already made a pitch to bring the two-time All-Pro to the Midwest earlier this week, and a chance to finally be part of a winning, functional club may be too much to pass up for Crosby.
IF the Raiders can stomach to let him go.
