Wayne Lambkin promoted to Sea Eagles NRL coaching staff

In December 2023, Wayne Lambkin was promoted to the NRL coaching staff of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, a move that underscored his extensive experience and deep connection with the club. Initially appointed to coach the Jersey Flegg team for the 2024 season, Lambkin stepped into the NRL coaching role following the departure of Blacktown Sea Eagles Workers coach Brock Sheppard to the Canberra Raiders.

Lambkin’s coaching career is distinguished by his tenure at Westfield Sports High School, where he spent two decades nurturing rugby league talent. This institution has produced numerous NRL players, including Pat Richards, Israel Folau, and David Klemmer.

In 2017, Lambkin guided the Manly Sea Eagles to the Under-20s title, defeating the Parramatta Eels in the Grand Final. Notably, current NRL player Haumole Olakau’atu was among the players in that victorious team.

Between 2019 and 2021, Lambkin served as head coach of the Wests Tigers’ Jersey Flegg team, before advancing to the Western Suburbs Magpies in the NSW Cup in 2022. His return to Manly in 2023, first as Jersey Flegg coach and then as NRL assistant coach, reflects the club’s recognition of his coaching acumen and his alignment with the Sea Eagles’ ethos.

Manly’s head coach, Anthony Seibold, expressed confidence in Lambkin’s promotion, highlighting his trustworthiness, teaching experience, and strong connections within the rugby league community.

Lambkin’s elevation to the NRL coaching staff is anticipated to have a positive impact on the Sea Eagles, leveraging his wealth of experience and his commitment to developing rugby league talent.
