In a recent post, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport discussed prospective trade packages for defensive players, with the Detroit Lions linked to Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa. Davenport believes the Lions should trade a draft selection to get the 28-year-old pass rusher, which may strengthen Detroit’s already dominant defensive line.
Proposed Trade for Joey Bosa
Davenport advises that Detroit trade Bosa for a fourth-round selection in 2025. This trade would improve the Lions’ pass rush without requiring a significant financial expenditure, making it an appealing option for both sides.
From Bleacher Report:
The Detroit Lions have been identified as prospective trade partners for a variety of edge rushers, including Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett.
Bosa would be far less expensive than those other names. Playing for perhaps the NFC’s most skilled club must appeal to him.
And, with only one year remaining on his contract, the Lions may either rework his contract to reduce the cap charge or implement a one-year trial term.
Maybe a change of location may help Bosa get back on track.
Pairing a healthy Joey Bosa (who has only played in 10 games or more in the last three seasons) on the edge with Aidan Hutchinson might greatly improve the Lions’ pass rush. Bosa, who is starting his eighth season, may also be inspired by the potential to join a rising squad, with the Lions poised to compete for a championship in the near future.
Joey Bosa: By The Numbers
In 2024, Bosa appeared in 14 games for the Chargers, recording 5 sacks. For his accomplishments, he was chosen to compete in the Pro Bowl Games.
