With the 76ers’ current circumstances, numerous teams are interested in acquiring reigning MVP Joel Embiid. According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Knicks would be willing to deal Julius Randle, RJ Barret, Mitchell Robinson, Evan Fournier, and two to three first-round draft picks to acquire Embiid.
While this is a really excellent package chock-full of assets, it will almost certainly not be the only deal on the table.
With Embiid potentially putting himself up for trade, nearly every NBA team will strive to be in the running for his services. He is a previous MVP and one of the game’s best players right now. While the Knicks and others may have tempting offers, if the Sixers are prepared to wait another season, the Boston Celtics will have the best one.
If the Sixers are willing to wait another season before trading their dominant big man, the Celtics can put together a package that includes Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis, as well as a few draft picks.
That would be difficult for the Sixers to turn down.
The Sixers gain two franchise stalwarts, while the Boston Celtics gain Kobe and Shaq 2.0.
Philadelphia would receive two All-Star players capable of making significant contributions. In exchange, the Boston Celtics would receive a dynamic combo in Tatum and Embid that would resemble the next Kobe Bryant/Shaquille O’Neal championship pairing.
It’s difficult to imagine such a one-two punch not delivering several championships to Boston and establishing a new dynastic reign over the league.
The Boston Celtics’ trade package would provide the Sixers with two potential No. 1 selections while putting the Celtics in a position to win every year for many years.
