On Wednesday, the Georgia Bulldogs’ recruiting headlines were dominated by the visit of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, whom they are competing with the Oregon Ducks to sign. However, the Bulldogs appear to be making progress in their pursuit of another signal-caller from one of the SEC’s most recent additions. Jaden O’Neal (Long Beach, Calif.) is already committed to the Oklahoma Sooners. However, the four-star quarterback spent Monday through Wednesday on campus in Athens, and the Bulldogs cannot be discounted in a race that is far from done.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Georgia is in the process of scheduling an official visit with O’Neil. Wiltfong commented on the Georgia trip: “Look for O’Neal to visit a couple other programs in the near future but, after spending time with [Kirby] Smart, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and assistant quarterbacks coach Montgomery VanGorder, the defending SEC champs are making a big impression.”
According to On3’s industry rankings, O’Neal is the number 11 quarterback. Rivals ranks him eighth, and ESPN seventh. As a result, he is plainly perceived as being on a lower level than Curtis, the big fish Georgia is keen to land. However, they appear to be making a concerted effort to persuade O’Neal to leave the Sooners. If the Bulldogs win, they will have an intriguing future at quarterback, regardless of whether Curtis commits.
