Cooper Kupp was dismissed by the Los Angeles Rams after eight seasons with the team, during which he made one Pro Bowl, one First-Team All-Pro, and even won Super Bowl MVP. However, off a 2024 season in which he appeared in 12 games and recorded 67 receptions, 710 yards, and six touchdowns on 100 targets, a number of teams may be intrigued in the 31-year-old veteran.
In an article with Fox Sports, NFL reporter Greg Auman forecasts that Kupp will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he will team up with quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
“There are still a few big-name veteran receivers unsigned, so we wonder if Kupp will look for familiarity in coaching,” Auman pointed out. “That brings us to Jacksonville, where the Jaguars have an absolute stud in Brian Thomas Jr. but have moved on from Christian Kirk and other receivers to free up a slot and pay for… someone. Jaguars coach Liam Coen was a Rams assistant for four years, two with the receivers, so we’ll go with the reunion.
There is little doubt that the Jaguars have one of the most secure quarterback positions in Lawrence, whose five-year, $275 million agreement does not begin until the 2026 season, implying that he will be with the team until 2030.
The offense could also use some major help, as it finished 2024 ranked 26th in points per game (18.8) and 25th in total yards per game (306.2). Kupp could come in and replace Parker Washington, who finished with the second-most targets (51), receptions (32), yards (390), and touchdowns (3) of any Jaguars wide receiver. If Jacksonville did want to pair Lawrence with Kupp, they wouldn’t have to break the bank, as Spotrac estimates his market value at $11 million per year.
