HUGE INCOMING: “A Play Maker With the Ball In His Hands” Green Bay And GM Brian Gutekunst Are Set To Finalise a Deal For Elite and Talented Wide Receiver

The Green Bay Packers will pick 23rd overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. One of the Packers’ primary needs this offseason will be a wide receiver.

They don’t have a real No. 1 wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love. Green Bay was in a stronger position at the start of the season, but no one emerged as the clear number one wide receiver. Over the last two seasons, no one has surpassed 1,000 yards receiving.

In the most recent CBS Sports mock draft, the Green Bay Packers select Luther Burden III, a wide receiver with the Missouri Tigers.

CBS Sports’ Mike Renner has developed his newest 2025 NFL mock draft. With the 23rd overall pick, the Green Bay Packers choose Missouri Tigers wide receiver Luther Burden III. Renner says,

Green Bay Packers

“The Packers break with tradition by passing on first-round wide receivers in favor of Luther Burden III, a one-of-a-kind talent. Injury concerns for Romeo Doubs (concussions) and Christian Watson (ACL) force their hand in this situation. Burden is not only sure-handed, but also a playmaker when the ball is in his hands. “Green Bay could use both.”

Burden III stands 5′ 11″ and weighs 208 pounds. Last season at Missouri, he caught 61 passes for 676 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 11.1 yards per catch. In 2023, with the Tigers, he caught 86 passes for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged 14.1 yards per reception.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed (11)

Burden III would be the ideal number one wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers. If Green Bay selected Burden III, he would undoubtedly be the most gifted wide receiver on the club for quarterback Jordan Love to pass to.
