The Green Bay Packers have some decisions to make about Jaire Alexander.
The great defensive back has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, and he was also suspended.
He’s been linked to several trade speculations in recent months, and he spoke as if he was on his way out during his goodbye interview.
With that in mind, Packers’ standout quarterback Jordan Love made it obvious that the team should go above and above to keep him around:
“Ja has his own universe going on. I’m going to let him handle his own business and see what happens. But that’s my guy right there,” Love explained. “We absolutely need him back. Just his playing style and who he is on the field. I mean, that’s a man we should have around. So, let’s see what happens.
When healthy, Alexander is one of the league’s most impactful players and defensive standouts.
He’s been beaten a few times, as have all superstar defensive backs, but he’s usually a dependable player, a ball-hawk, and someone who can infect the rest of the defense with his fervor.
With his competitive mentality and ability, he may act as a defensive catalyst and get everyone else moving.
The fact that no trade has occurred yet may indicate how other teams perceive him at this point in his career, as availability is typically the greatest of abilities.
He does not appear to be on the same page as the front office or the coaching staff, which is typically a difficult scenario to overcome.
However, from a talent standpoint, he would be a significant loss for Jeff Hafley’s defense.
He might be a name to watch in the NFL Draft, but Love has already stated that he wants him to stay.
