DETROIT — The Detroit Tigers’ series opener against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night at Comerica Park has been postponed due to forecasted rain later in the evening.
The game will be played as part of a day-night doubleheader on Saturday.
Saturday’s regularly scheduled game will start at 1:10 p.m. The stadium will then be emptied ahead of the nightcap at 6:10 p.m., which will serve as a makeup for Friday’s game.
Fans who purchased tickets for Friday’s game can use them in Game 2 on Saturday or exchange them for another game by following the Tigers’ procedures. For additional information, go to Tigers.com/rainout.
Tigers right-hander Casey Mize (3-1, 2.22 ERA), who was supposed to start Friday, will now pitch in Game 1.
The Tigers have yet to name a starter for Game 2, but it will not be rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe, who was supposed to pitch on Saturday.
Tarik Skubal, a lefty, will continue to start on Sunday, pushing Jobe back until at least Monday in Houston.
Both teams will be able to call up an extra player for Saturday’s doubleheader. The Tigers could bring back right-hander Keider Montero to start Game 2. He would pitch with standard rest (four days).
