HUGE BLOW: One key player misses out on Leicester City 25-man squad of EFL

The EFL has confirmed Leicester City’s 25-man roster for the 2023-24 Championship season.

After the summer transfer market closed, City was forced to select 25 players for their roster, and the league has already confirmed that group.

Players born before 2002 must be registered, while loanees must be registered regardless of their age. Leicester now had 26 senior players who needed to be registered, which meant one member had to be left out.
Goalkeeper Alex Smithies has officially been identified as the man who did not make the cut. Smithies is presently the club’s fifth-choice goalkeeper, following the signing of Mads Hermansen in the summer and the elevation of Jakub Stolarczyk.

Both Daniel Iversen and Danny Ward, who remained at the club after the transfer market closed, have been registered, resulting in four goalkeepers in the 25-man roster.

New signee Under-21 players Wanya Marcal-Madivadua and Ben Nelson, as well as Tom Cannon, do not need to be registered to compete in the Championship. Shane Flynn, a development squad defender born in 2001, is ineligible to play in the league according to league rules.
