“Trading Paredes for an outfielder or, ideally, pitching seems like the best course of action for Houston to get a boost in other areas of need in addition to addressing their infield logjam.”
The Yankees might offer a deal that includes Jasson Dominguez or Spencer Jones in order to acquire Paredes. Jasson Dominguez is now having a brief run in Major League Baseball, and Jones has been dominating at Triple-A but still struggles with strikeouts. However, one of those two names may be the focal point of a transaction. Pitching prospects may also be available because the Astros need pitchers, as Rotman explains.
The time is ideal to trade for Isaac Paredes, but they probably wouldn’t do it right now. With a batting average of.265, three home runs, 15 RBI, and an OPS+ of 112, he has been hitting well lately. Additionally, Paredes has a very impressive “162-game AVG” with 26 doubles, 25 home runs, and an OPS+ of 115.
Ryan McMahon has six home runs and an OPS+ of 91 in 87 games since joining the Yankees. Additionally, McMahon should be able to hit more home runs at Yankee Stadium.
