BREAKING NEWS: RAMS head coach SEAN MC VAY details reveal club plans for new signing Carson Wentz amid Fans worries

Carson Wentz’s stellar season, which earned him MVP consideration, came to an end in a December 2017 game against the Rams. Wentz is now a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

Coach Sean McVay was not available for his usual in-season Wednesday press conference due to the Rams’ bye week. When he next meets with reporters, he’ll almost certainly be asked about the decision to sign Wentz, who was completely ignored by the Commanders after being released in the offseason.

It was only a matter of time before Wentz’s phone rang, at a time when quarterbacks like Dresser Winn (or is it Winn Dresser?) and Tanner Morgan (or is it Morgan Tanner?) had found work. Now that it has, it is reasonable to wonder whether Wentz is only an emergency option to get the Rams through the 2023 season, or whether the Rams are considering making him the starter in 2024.

He has made 92 starts for the Eagles, Colts, and Commanders.

To be honest, they need to hope Stafford retires or accepts a trade if they want to move on from him. On March 17, 2023, his $31 million salary for 2024 became fully guaranteed.

Another $18.5 million in allocations for past bonus payments will raise his cap number to $49.5 million next year.
Another option would be to trade Stafford. Who, at this point in his career, would give up real value and commit to $31 million in 2024? (An additional $10 million in 2025 salary becomes fully guaranteed on the third day of the

league year in 2024.)

When the Rams traded up for the first pick in the 2016 draft, some speculated that Wentz would be the preferred quarterback over Jared Goff. Wentz is now officially a Ram.

It’s a good deal for Los Angeles. According to a source familiar with the terms, he’ll receive the prorated veteran minimum plus a $150,000 signing bonus.

The real question is whether the Rams simply wanted someone other than Brett Rypien or Dresser Winn to help them get through the rest of the season, or if they see Wentz as a potential starter in 2024, and possibly beyond.
