Speaking on the Premier League world feed (11/11, 15:07), the Sky Sports pundit thought it was soft but enough for the referee to rule in the hosts’ favor.
After winning the penalty, Eberechi Eze scored to tie the game at one.
“The way he’s [Eze] able to manipulate that ball,” Phillips said. Is there a lot on Eze? It doesn’t appear to be a lot. Branthwaite, you can see a little of it at the foot of Eze.”
Unfortunately, there is a penalty.

The Everton players may have thought the decision was contentious, but it was thoroughly reviewed and the referee made the correct call in real time.
This is the problem with this team: they start the game strong, but instead of seizing the lead, they capitulate and give it away.

Scoring in the first 52 minutes would have been the ideal start for Sean Dyche, but he would have been furious at his team’s reaction after taking the lead.
Only the players can answer whether or not it is a mental issue, as this is not the first time it has happened to them.
Branthwaite has been consistent all season, and this was a completely unnecessary act that put his teammates in danger.
He’ll play better games in the future and hopefully learn from his mistakes, while Dyche will undoubtedly give him a piece of his mind.
