Following the events of Friday, things in the Big Ten are heating up.

The Big Ten suspended Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh for the remainder of the college football season on Friday afternoon, citing a sign-stealing scandal involving a low-level staffer who illegally attended opponent games for scouting purposes.

Michigan went to court shortly after the suspension was announced, seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent Harbaugh from being suspended.

Michigan claims that a punishment by the Big Ten without a thorough investigation would irreparably harm the university.

“If the Conference is allowed to impose a sanction prior to a full and fair investigation, the University itself, particularly its athletics program, will suffer significant and long-term reputational harm.”

“It is impossible to quantify the full extent of the significant harm that will befall the University in the absence of injunctive relief, but there is no doubt that the University, its students, and the community will suffer significantly.”

According to Sports Illustrated’s Michael Rosenberg, Michigan has already discussed leaving the Big Ten due to the conference’s punishment.
