Bleacher Report MLB writer Kerry Miller put together some trade packages for Soto, and the Yankees were among them. The star outfielder’s preferred landing spot was New York. Here was the deal:

In exchange for Cortes, San Diego would receive a few solid prospects as well as a quality starter. Cortes is under team control for two more years, which the Padres could factor into their decision.

The Padres could use the prospects to acquire another MLB player, or they could add them to their farm system in the hopes of acquiring another superstar. Following the Soto trade, they would have a plethora of options to work with.

The New York Yankees have been one of the most talked about teams in relation to a potential Soto trade, and there is usually fire when there is this much smoke. New York is in need of a left-handed hitting power bat, and the Bronx could use another star.

Soto would be a perfect fit in their lineup, giving them one of the best in the game. If the Yankees were to sign Soto, they would once again have a fearsome lineup with Aaron Judge.

The Yankees almost have to make a splash this offseason after missing the playoffs last year. And acquiring Soto would be one of the most significant moves they could make. He would instantly become a fan favorite, and the team has the financial resources to keep him long term.

If the Friars decide to move their star player, a move to New York appears to be the most likely option. There is always the possibility that they will keep him through the season, but they would then risk him getting hurt or having a bad year, lowering his trade value.
