As pre-season training resumes, the Canterbury Bulldogs have signed up promising halfback Cody Fuz from the Cronulla Sharks.
Fuz has signed a pre-season contract with the Canterbury Bulldogs, which means he will train alongside the NRL squad as well as supplementary players, trainees, and triallists.
Fuz, an Aquinas Colts junior, had been tearing it up for the Cronulla Sharks earlier this year in the Jersey Flegg Cup and was previously on the club’s SG Ball Cup roster.
However, he has had to compete for the number seven jumper with Manaia Waitere, Noah Lester, and Niwhai Puru.
The latter has been added to the Sharks’ Top 30 roster for next season and has been identified as Nicho Hynes’ future halves partner.
Fuz was named the 2019 Sports Star of the Year at the annual Menai District Sports Awards, but it is unclear what type of contract he will have after pre-season training concludes. He could, however, play for the Jersey Flegg or NSW Cup teams.
His arrival in Belmore comes after the club signed Wests Tigers dual-code superstar Alex Conti. Mitchell Woods is also climbing the ranks, having recently announced his intention to leave the Sydney Swans Academy to focus on rugby league.
