Ryan Vilade, a utility player for the Detroit Tigers, has been signed to a minor league contract.
Scott Harris, President of Baseball Operations for the Detroit Tigers, has officially signed utility player Ryan Vilade. This is Vilade’s third Major League Baseball organization, having previously worked for the Colorado Rockies and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ryan Vilade has signed with his third MLB organization.
The Colorado Rockies selected Vilade in the second round (48th overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft. He only appeared in three games for the Rockies and has spent the majority of his professional career in Triple-A.
After being released, he would sign a minor-league contract with the Pirates in 2022. He spent last season with Triple-A Indianapolis, where he hit.271 with 23 doubles, four triples, and six home runs and had a.370 on-base percentage.
He’s now with the Tigers and can play all three outfield positions, as well as first and third base.
Vilade’s signing provides Triple-A Toledo with additional depth, but his potential extends further—he could emerge as a Wild Card contender vying for a spot on the Opening Day roster.
Here’s wishing Vilade all the best with the Mud Hens and possibly his journey to the Tigers!
