BREAKING NEWS: Miami Hurricanes Flipped Top-Ranked Running Back Prospect

On Monday night, the Miami Hurricanes made a big impression on the recruiting trail. According to national recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett, the Canes have secured the commitment of running back Jordan Lyle.
Lyle had originally committed to Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes. However, the Florida native will remain in his home state, a decision that was reinforced when Lyle posted his flip on his own Twitter (also known as X) page.

Jordan Lyle: The Number One Running Back Prospect
According to 247Sports, Jordan Lyle is a four-star prospect and the 25th-ranked running back in the class of 2024. Lyle rushed for 1,376 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound running back also caught 13 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown. Lyle played varsity football for three years, winning the 7A state championship as a sophomore in 2021.

Jordan Lyle is not the first top-tier prospect snatched from the Ohio State Buckeyes by Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal. Justin Scott, a five-star mega prospect and fellow high school senior, switched from Ohio State to Miami last month. The six-foot-four, 310-pound defensive lineman rescinded his Buckeyes commitment in late November, five months after verbally committing to the team. He signed with the Hurricanes on the same day he backed out of signing with the Buckeyes.

Meanwhile, freshman running back Mark Fletcher Jr. committed to Ohio State before joining the Hurricanes this fall. Despite being a rookie, Fletcher rushed for 512 yards and five touchdowns on a team-high 103 attempts.

Marquise Lightfoot, a four-star defensive end, verbally committed to Miami last July. The edge rusher expected to join the Buckeyes in Columbus. Nonetheless, he quickly leaned toward Miami before publicly announcing his intention to join the Hurricanes.
