OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — The Ole Miss Rebels are busy tearing up the NCAA Transfer Portal, but they haven’t forgotten about the recruiting trail, as 2024 three-star offensive tackle Kavion Broussard switched from the Miami Hurricanes to Lane Kiffin’s program on Saturday night, according to On3. According to On3 rankings, the 6-foot-6, 253-pound prospect is Ole Miss’ third offensive line commit this cycle and is ranked as the No. 41 offensive tackle and No. 19 recruit in the state of Louisiana’s 2024 class. On Saturday, Broussard was Ole Miss’ second 2024 flip, as the Rebels also received a pledge from four-star quarterback Anthony Maddox after he decommitted from the Texas A&M Aggies.
Broussard was a highly sought-after recruit this cycle, receiving offers from the Missouri Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, TCU Horned Frogs, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Tulane Green Wave, and others in addition to Ole Miss and Miami. With Broussard’s commitment, the Rebels now have 21 total commitments heading into early signing day on Wednesday. Because of the current recruiting landscape in college football, Ole Miss could be in for a few more surprises leading up to or on ESD.
Time will tell whether they will support the Rebels or not. Broussard was the Rebels’ fourth commit on Saturday, following pledges from former Tennessee Volunteers Tamarion McDonald and Tyler Baron. This cycle, the Rebels’ coaching staff has landed the No. 2 portal class and No. 20 recruitment class while also preparing their players for a NY6 matchup against the No. 10 Penn State Nittany Lions in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl. The game between Ole Miss and Penn State is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on December 30 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, and it will be televised on ESPN.
