NFL NEWS: Chicago reshapes offense, Giants, Raiders, Vikings take QBs in 2024 NFL Draft projections

Six teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention as the NFL season enters Week 16. Because five of those six teams have their own first-round pick, one lucky franchise will receive a top draft pick as a result of a trade made last season. Our most recent 2024 NFL mock draft reflects the most recent NFL draft order as of Week 16.

Chicago Bears: 18 players slated to become free agents in 2024

The Carolina Panthers are the elephant in the room. Despite being the worst team in the NFL, they do not have their own pick. Following the Chicago Bears’ decision on whether to draft a quarterback or trade the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, teams will be forced to make a number of other intriguing decisions. Here is Sportsnaut’s most recent attempt to forecast the 2024 NFL Draft.
The Bears could consider trading this pick for multiple future first-round picks, but the opportunity to solve their quarterback woes may be too good to pass up. Caleb Williams is the type of player who can assist a general manager in masking other roster flaws, and the Bears could use that more than anyone.

There is nothing else to think about here; the New England Patriots must take whichever of the two quarterbacks that Chicago rejects. Drake Maye is arguably an equal talent to Williams, but he lacks some of Williams’ reputational flaws. Maye would be the best Patriots quarterback since Tom Brady, and New England would finally have a franchise star around whom to build a team while relying on Maye to carry the offense.
Jayden Daniels is receiving strong consideration in our 2024 NFL mock draft, with the belief that selecting him at No. 4 overall isn’t too early. However, the Washington Commanders must first lay the groundwork. Olu Fashanu is one of the best left tackles to enter the NFL Draft in recent years, with All-Pro potential. Begin in the trenches and work your way up to becoming a franchise quarterback.
With USC’s quarterback departing for Chicago, it’s time for the Bears to add another offensive weapon to their arsenal. Malik Nabers, who plays opposite D.J. Moore, can help open up this scoring attack by creating more separation than fans are used to seeing at Soldier Field. – ABR

Daniel Jones isn’t the answer; every season of his NFL career, with the exception of the 2022 season, has demonstrated that. Jayden Daniels is a more raw passer than Maye or Williams, but one could argue that his ceiling is just as high. Multiply what Jones did for Brian Daboll in 2022 by a stronger arm and better athleticism.
Even if he were 100 percent, it’s probably best that Aaron Rodgers doesn’t return to the Jets this season behind one of the league’s worst offensive lines. This season, Jets quarterbacks have been pressured on 30% of their dropbacks, the highest rate in the NFL. Getting the best offensive tackle prospect in the draft at No. 7 is a huge win. – ABR
Once Marvin Harrison Jr. is off the board, Brock Bowers should be the Chargers’ top target. While the NFL comparisons to George Kittle may be a little overblown, he’s a better tight end prospect than Kyle Pitts Jr., with a far better skill set for the position. Justin Herbert will thrive if he is paired with Bowers and Keenan Allen.
The Atlanta Falcons made some good moves to improve their pass rush for 2023, but the results have been disappointing. Laiatu Latu is the best pass rusher available in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he has been compared to Pro Bowl edge rusher Josh Allen. Atlanta’s defense requires an edge defender of that caliber to take the next step forward in 2024.
