JUST IN: Club insider revealed Phillies Top Prospect that should be Starter Next Season

In 2024, the Philadelphia Phillies have alternatives in center field. Depending on the matchup, the club would platoon Brandon Marsh, Johan Rojas, and Cristian Pache. Rojas and Marsh should be the two candidates for the job in 2024, and they will most likely platoon again depending on who is on the other team’s mound.

Rojas, famed for his outstanding defense, is struggling at the plate. The 23-year-old hit.302 in the regular season but only had two home runs and nine doubles. He also only walked five times in 149 at-bats, which is the most concerning aspect of this situation.

As the offseason began, his major aim was to improve his swing and offensively. Rojas called Kevin Long early in the offseason and expressed his desire to improve. According to the Inquirer, he’s been working with Manny Amador, the Phillies’ DR Coordinator. According to Alex Coffey of the Inquirer, Long said the following:

“He’s probably taking the most swings of anybody we have up to this point,” he went on to say. “Some guys haven’t even gotten started.”

When discussing his tweaks, Long mentions that the look of his swing will change.

“He’s working really hard on his front side,” Long added. “He doesn’t really hold his body position well, and he moves quickly.” So we really quieted him down. He does everything. He should stack more till he attacks. Less head movement is expected… He’s also little wider. He’s becoming better at remaining in his legs. He’s not diving for the ball.

“While Rojas is unlikely to be the starting center fielder every game with Marsh facing right-handed pitchers, it is critical for him to improve. During the 2023 postseason, he hit.093 with an OPS of.277 in 43 at-bats, shedding insight on his plate troubles. Rojas must improve if Philadelphia is to win a World Series. He recognizes this and is doing everything he can to finish it.

“I think he’s moving and progressing about as well as I could ask for right now,” Long went on to say. “He’ll need to perform better in the playoffs for us to become a championship team.” He is aware of this. That is why he works so hard.”
