GOOD NEWS: Falcons head coach Arthur Smith share a fresh exciting update on QB Justin Fields after a lengthy phone call amid potential transfer

The Falcons could get a first-hand look at their 2024 quarterback this weekend when they travel to Chicago to face Justin Fields and the Bears.
This offseason, Ryan Poles must make a difficult decision. With two top-10 draft picks, including the first overall pick, the Bears GM must decide whether to start over with a new rookie quarterback or build behind Fields.

Many others, like me, feel he’ll choose the latter. A rookie quarterback contract is the most important thing in this sport, and if you believe one of the top prospects can produce similarly to Fields, there is no question about what you should do.

That would mean that the Georgia native would become available to the Falcons. His contract issue undoubtedly complicates matters, but he’s full of promise and the match looks good on paper. The Falcons couldn’t do much worse at the position than Justin Fields, and Arthur Smith is well aware of the former 11th overall pick’s unique skill set.

“The thing that I think makes Justin so unique is that he’s such a powerful runner once he gets going,” Smith said, according to The Athletic. “Even when put under pressure, guys have a difficult time bringing him down.” If you’re not strong and don’t employ basics or have rush integrity, when he takes off, especially when the defense has their back turned, those are damn near home runs once he gets going because he’s a powerful runner.”
Is Smith endorsing his future quarterback? It’s absolutely plausible, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in it. The Falcons should be interested in almost any quarterback that becomes available, including Fields.

Falcons coach gets brutally honest about controversial call

The draft contains several potential franchise quarterbacks, while the free agent class include Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, and Ryan Tannehill.

The pressure will be on Arthur Smith and Terry Fontenot to get the job right in 2024, regardless of where they locate him.
