Will Levis, the quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, departed Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans because of a foot injury.
Early in the second quarter, Levis seemed to take a blow that resulted in the injury. On a first-down pass play, defensive end Jerry Hughes sacked Levis, forcing a fumble that the Texans recovered for a score to take a 16-0 lead. In the end, Houston prevailed 26-3.
After the hit, Levis hobbled off the field and angrily slapped his headband to the ground. Eventually, following a medical assessment, he was wheeled off the field. Levis refused to come off the sidelines, Fox said during the show, but the doctors urged him to go on a cart in order to prevent further injury to his foot.
For Tennessee’s subsequent drive, quarterback Ryan Tannehill assumed the position. Due to his foot injury, Levis was first listed by the Titans as questionable to return before being officially declared out.

After taking over as Tennessee’s starting quarterback in Week 8, Levis, a rookie, has started nine games. He didn’t play in the Seattle Seahawks’ overtime loss last week, but he is back to start against the Texans on Sunday.
Levis completed 59% of his passes for 224 yards a game, eight touchdowns, and four interceptions in his eight games played prior to Sunday. Before losing his job to the Levis, Tannehill started for Tennessee for four seasons and the first six games of this one. With a 5-11 record, the Titans were eliminated from the postseason quest on Sunday.
