As the dust settles on the transaction that sent RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to the New York Knicks in exchange for O.G. Anunoby, Malachi Flynn, and Precious Achiuwa, the issue of what comes next must be asked.
In front of a boisterous crowd at Scotiabank Arena on Monday night, Quickley and Barrett made their Raptors debuts, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-121. As the squad dynamic changed into one that was a little more coherent, the game seemed new and thrilling.
Although it was widely anticipated that the Raptors would act before the NBA trade deadline on February 8th, Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster’s deal may not be finalized just yet based on the timing of it.
Pascal Siakam’s future is still up in the air, so even if the Raptors front staff did a good job of obtaining some potential assets back in exchange for Anunoby, Siakam’s release should not be allowed to go unpunished.
The Raptors could still choose to extend the Cameroonian, but it now appears more likely that they will move him or let him choose his own destiny in free agency.

Because the Raptors dealt away Anunoby a bit sooner than anticipated, many speculate that Toronto may have more tricks up their sleeve.
Fans, media members, and even Woj himself are aware that the Raptors are not known for making rash trade choices or even any moves during the season. This week, Marc Stein referred to them as the “ever-deliberate” Raptors in his Monday reports, and it perfectly captures the essence of this workplace.
