When it comes to Pittsburgh Steelers coverage, it’s been a pretty controversial week. Everyone had an opinion on what happened with Kenny Pickett’s healthy scratch on the way to Seattle.
And they were all quite heated.

David is clearly enraged. What are you talking about? I have no idea. It was not specifically stated. But he’s clearly upset about something.
Well, David, one thing sports journalists can do is construct an argument and explain their thoughts well. That is something you did not do in this email. I’m not sure what piece you’re responding to or what opinion I pushed that has you riled up. I’m sure you just wanted to write down your anger tantrum and push submit.
It’s as if you came on to stick your tongue out at me and flee like a 6-year-old.
Feel free to respond and tell me what you believe I did wrong or wrote wrongly. Until then, keep working on that NASA feature story and let me know when it’s published. I’ll read it with interest.
You also appear to be trapped between double periods, double commas, and the use of ellipses. Perhaps this is the industry standard for space-travel writing. I’m not certain. But it was causing me problems as I was reading your email.
Perhaps David was irritated by this editorial. Many other folks were agitated about it. It aired last week. I discussed how NFL competition erodes the Steelers’ 20-year tradition of never having a losing season. Richard, a frequent emailer, was unimpressed with the piece.
Stop bombarding local media members with complaints about how harsh they are on the franchise when it fails to win a playoff game every year.
The entire aim of this piece is to cease defining success by avoiding losing seasons.
There have been no playoff victories in six (possibly seven) years. This will also be the 13th season in the last 17 without one. #MoreMath
But thanks for the history lesson. Having said that, I already enjoy the franchise’s history. You should wake up and recognize its current state of eternal mediocrity.
Agreed. But saying it is easier than doing it. Todd Haley, Randy Fichtner, and Canada have all contributed to this run of years without a postseason victory.
Furthermore, I would warn against assuming Pickett will be alright after Canada. They gained a lot of yards but only scored 16 points against the Bengals in his first game back. In addition, before Pickett was injured, the team punted on three possessions and stalled in the red zone on two more.
Let us not overwrite history in an attempt to exonerate Pickett’s stagnant progress by blaming everything on Canada.
Ah, yes. The Super Bowl is always awarded to the team with the most yards in the game, not the most points. That was something I had forgotten. You’ve got me.
Is failing to win a playoff game for seven years also considered “past a prime”?
Look, I wrote about Pickett on Tuesday after he addressed the subject for the first time. I’ll be blogging about the game in advance of my return journey to Baltimore on Friday, and I already have.
However, I believe that the composition of the quarterback depth chart is fairly relevant to the outcome of the games. Don’t you think so, Sean? I would have thought that how and why last week’s QB depth chart was put together would have piqued your and other fans’ curiosity. But maybe I was incorrect.
What is genuinely important about the Pickett talk, based on my timeline and email, is that we have been given the opportunity for a healthy and full re-adjudication of the “Fake Slide” in the 2021 ACC Championship and his decision to pull out of the Peach Bowl.
