ESPN NEWS: NFC South teams on a battle line as each team is intrested in making Bill Belichick head coach

Bill Belichick, the iconic head coach of the New England Patriots, may be heading to the NFC South after helping the team bring home six Lombardi Trophies. It seems likely that Belichick’s twenty years with the Patriots will soon come to an end. The team just finished its worst season in thirty years as a franchise. Even though Belichick will always be remembered as a legend in New England, it would be best for everyone if they parted ways since good things have to come to an end.

Ever since Tom Brady left to pursue better opportunities, Belichick has been in charge of attempting to develop a winning formula in the absence of the best quarterback in NFL history. That hasn’t succeeded thus far. It is impossible to hold Belichick responsible for his struggles in 2020; the Patriots made a major investment in Brady’s latter years, and losing a player of his caliber is inevitable. But since 2021, New England has chosen Brady’s heir apparent and established a record for guaranteed money distributed in free agency. However, the group has not improved. Is it just that the eight-time Super Bowl champion needs a change of scenery, or has time finally caught up with him?

At least two NFC South teams want to test quarterback Ryan Belichick, according to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports. An update to an earlier report indicating the Chargers’ possible interest in the future Hall of Fame coach can be seen in this tweet. The reporter mentions that there are several teams conducting their due diligence, and we may reasonably infer who they are by applying the process of elimination, even if she doesn’t name any particular teams.
Which groups desire Belichick?

NFL Rumors: Patriots' Bill Belichick Could Draw Interest from NFC South Teams | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

There’s a chance that Belichick will be interviewed by all four teams at this point next week, which puts the NFC South in an odd situation. It’s logical to assume that the Carolina Panthers, who fired head coach Frank Reich earlier this season, are among the teams considering Belichick. In the meanwhile, there are head coach concerns for the Saints, Buccaneers, and Falcons. The Buccaneers appear to be the least likely of the three teams indicated above to fire their head coach. Todd Bowles hasn’t always had an easy ride, but Tampa Bay’s comeback in the second half should be enough to keep him in the starting lineup for at least another season.

Conversely, the coaches of the Falcons and Saints could both be fired with ease. Though it’s difficult to understand, rumors circulating the league suggest Dennis Allen is a hit with New Orleans. Even with the Saints’ abundance of talent and their lenient schedule, Allen was still unable to lead this club to the postseason. Though they would need to defeat the Falcons in Week 18 and hope that the Buccaneers fall to the Panthers, the Saints might still qualify for the postseason.

Arthur Smith, meanwhile, had the option to be fired by the Falcons at any time during the season. The head coach just won’t employ his top players, and the team’s performance on the field speaks for itself. Smith has one of the worst schemes in the league, Atlanta’s offense is a complete mess, and the Falcons cannot afford to lose any more games under him. Belichick may have changed since his prime, but he still beats Smith.

Belichick will most likely play for the Falcons or Panthers if he ends up in the NFC South. To be honest, it might not be the best fit. These two teams are in dire need of a franchise quarterback, and Belichick’s failure to help Mac Jones develop is a huge concern. While Carolina needs someone to try to fix Bryce Young, Atlanta is starting from scratch. Most likely, searching for a youthful, offensive-minded head coach like Frank Smith or Ben Johnson is the wisest course of action for both teams.
