DEAL AGREED: FSU Offer Talented and Experienced Alabama Football Running Back Transfer

This offseason, Florida State is utilizing the NCAA Transfer Portal to address spots across its roster that require an upgrade in talent or experience. The Seminoles are looking for transfers on both sides of the ball as they prepare to compete for another ACC Championship.

Alabama running back transfer Roydell Williams posted on social media on Friday evening that he had accepted an offer from Florida State. After enrolling with the Crimson Tide as a top-150 recruit in the 2020 class, the graduate transfer has one season of eligibility remaining.

Williams spent the majority of his career with the program as a backup before falling behind Jase McClellan in 2023. He finished with a career-high 111 carries for 560 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, as well as 11 receptions for 58 yards and another score. Williams scored three touchdowns in his final four games of the season, including a touchdown in Alabama’s SEC Championship game victory over Georgia.

The Seminoles’ offer is the first that Williams has made public since entering the marketplace on Friday.

Williams appeared in 45 games for Alabama, carrying 234 times for 1,165 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also has 21 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns. This past season, Williams had more running attempts than the prior two years combined. During his first season with the Crimson Tide, he won a National Championship.
With Trey Benson (NFL), Rodney Hill (transfer), and CJ Campbell (transfer) all leaving for various reasons, Florida State could use another body in the backfield. The Seminoles now have only redshirt freshman Samuel Singleton, true freshman Kam Davis, and true freshman Micahi Danzy on scholarship, in addition to Lawrance Toafili and Caziah Holmes.
