Brentford have suffered a huge injury setback as scans revealed that left-back Rico Henry sustained serious knee damage in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle.

Henry will need surgery on his left knee and will be out for the rest of the season. It is the defender’s second major knee injury; he damaged the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee in September 2017 and did not play for 14 months.

Brentford have suffered a major injury blow as scans indicated that left-back Rico Henry suffered significant knee damage in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle.

Henry will miss the rest of the season due to surgery on his left knee. It is the defender’s second significant knee injury; he tore the ACL in his right knee in September 2017 and was sidelined for 14 months.

Losing such an important player is a significant blow for Brentford, who welcomed Ivan Toney back to training on Monday for the first time since his FA exile for betting violations. The striker won’t be able to play again until January 16, but he can already train with the team again.
