This led to speculation that Tomlin, who has one more year on his deal, might be the target of a trade attempt by the Steelers during the offseason. Having saying that, Tomlin might want to take a complete hiatus from coaching.
Speaking on Sunday NFL Countdown, Adam Schefter conjectured that the NFL coach with the second-longest tenure may consider stepping down and taking a leave of absence.
“Mike Tomlin is not being fired by the Steelers.” Here’s the intriguing part, though. His contract is set to expire in one year. Additionally, there are others in the league who think Mike Tomlin may ultimately choose to take a leave of absence, similar to what Sean Payton did. Consider taking a year off. We’ll check to see if he is thinking about that.
Given that Tomlin is from Virginia and that his wife adores the Los Angeles region, Schefter added that Washington and Los Angeles would be viable choices for Tomlin to continue coaching but in a different location.
