BREAKING NEWS: Isaiah Taylor and Jason Taylor in Miami Hurricanes

James Williams and Kamren Kinchens have elected to forgo their final year of eligibility in favor of entering the 2024 NFL Draft. This creates a significant void at Miami’s safety position.

Savion Riley, a safety from Vanderbilt, has already joined the Canes; also, Jason Taylor, the defensive line coach of Miami and an NFL Hall of Fame inductee, will be joining the Hurricanes with his son.
For the next season, Taylor will be a redshirt junior. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound safety who initially attended Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas has the following three-year stats.

Ballhawk safety Isaiah Taylor 'more of a leader' for Arizona football; freshman Genesis Smith 'not soft'

2021: Taylor has one tackle in four games as a redshirt.

2022: 40 stops, 2 sacks for loss, 1 interception, and 2 pass breakups in 11 games.

2023: Fifteen tackles in ten games.

Along with redshirt sophomores Jaden Harris and Markeith Williams, significant reserves on Miami’s depth chart will be vying for starting positions. After having a strong performance against Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl, the latter safety may be the front-runner to start.
