BREAKING NEWS: Florida Officially has Completed and Announced the Signing of Auburn Tigers Defensive Coordinator as the New Executive Head Coach

Ron Roberts was hired by Florida on Tuesday to serve as the Gators’ executive head coach, co-defensive coordinator, and inside linebackers coach. The hiring was first rumoured on January 8.

The specifics of Roberts’ agreement with UF were not immediately clear.

Roberts comes to UF with 33 years of coaching experience, having served as Auburn’s defensive coordinator for one season. As the team’s inside linebacker coach, he will take over for Jay Bateman, who departed Florida in December to take a position as defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.

UF head coach Billy Napier said in a statement issued by UF, “We are excited to add one of the best football minds in all of college football to our staff in Ron Roberts.”
“Ron is an excellent coach and leader who has created and produced top-notch defensive players and teams on a regular basis. The staff will benefit greatly from his knowledge with our methodology and his experience as a coordinator and head coach. I am honoured to greet him and his spouse, Didi, as new members of Gator Nation.”
